We arrived in Blacksburg Friday night just after nine. (Not bad since we left at 2:30 and spent almost 2 hours in Lynchburg!) Both kids had fallen asleep in the car (noteworthy since Jemma does not sleep in the car) after getting to play in Lynchburg. Thankfully, they continued to sleep long enough for Jim to unpack the car and set up the hotel room. (Have I mentioned what a wonderful husband and devoted father he is?!?) Jemma slept on the pull out couch... her first night in a "big" bed. (She sleeps in a twin bed at home and the couch pulls out to a full size, so it was big to her!) James slept really good in the pack-n-play.
Saturday was the big day! It was James' first football game. Here we are before the game. It was perfect weather... warm and sunny with a breeze. I love Blacksburg in the early Fall!
We all had a fabulous time. We went to Hokie Bird's birthday party. Jemma was able to watch Hokie Bird leave on a scooter and have her hand (she didn't want the face) painted with a VT and Hokie tracks. Uncle Andy got us passes to his company's box. It was so, so, so nice. The people in the box were incredibly nice and we got to enjoy watching our Hokies win! Yippie!!
Suzanne is now showing. She is such a cute pregnant lady!
James just adores Uncle Andy. Andy has had a special bond with him since day one. It is so wonderful to see Andy so comfortable with James! And just look at how happy Jemma is with her Daddy!! :)
We are lucky to have Uncle Andy and Aunt Suzanne want to spend so much time with the kids. They give the kids so much love and attention and we are so happy to be able to share in their lives. I'm so happy to have another niece or nephew on the way!
Sunday afternoon we headed home and stopped by South Boston for a visit with Granny and Papa. Tomorrow is Papa's birthday, so we had a big lunch with an ice cream cake for dessert. Here Jemma is holding a sweet potato from Papa's garden.
Aunt Nicole brought Logan up from Raleigh and Aunt Amy was visiting from Danville with her fiance, Jerry. The only one missing was Bryan, who was on call for work. Here is Logan and James playing.
Papa had James sitting with him on the 4 wheeler before we left... then all the grandkids joined in the fun! :)
Now, we are home. Jim had to shower and change quickly because he is flying tonight. I gave the kids dinner, baths, and put them to bed. Jemma was tired! She did not have a nap today and yesterday was a big, fun-filled day, so she went right to sleep. James napped in the car, so he was a bit difficult to get to sleep but I think he is happy to be back in his crib. I'm off to sleep myself... it has been a great weekend! :)

I'm so glad you guys had such a nice weekend. I'm very jealous of everyone who got to go to Blacksburg this weekend too. I miss it there very much and lately I've been feeling quite nostalgic for the slower pace/small town atmosphere! I'm so happy the Suzanne is pregnant and I have to say I have had my suspicions for a while. I think it was one of the earlier pictures in your blog where I feel like she just looked like she was "glowing" for lack of a better way to describe it. I hope we can get that way soon, we've got so many plans and so many things to do, on top of me just being absolutely exhausted! Anyway, hugs for the kids and you guys as well.
