Budding vocabulary...

I've noticed that every Mom can understand her child, even when others cannot. I have sworn for the past week that James has been saying "spoon" and tonight my neighbor heard it and understood it too! He can clearly say "Mama" and "Dada" (usually, "Dadadada") and he tries his best at muttering "mahmah" for Jemma. He has been saying "Ba" for ball and pointing like crazy at every ball he sees... he especially likes the large concrete red balls in front of the Target stores... and he just wants to yank the planets out of Jemma's project: Isn't this cute?!? They made it in school when they had planet week!

Anyway, today he also said "door" although it more sounded like "dah", but he was pointing at the door and wanting it to open. He has become quite vocal and opinionated and downright demanding at times! For example, we were going to our neighbor's for dinner tonight so I was trying to finish cleaning my mess from making banana bread and get us organized to get out the door. James was being very vocal (with grunts and "da-das") but I was ignoring his obvious requests, which included pointing at the refrigerator and pulling at the door. When he finally started to cry and just put his head on the floor, I stopped what I was doing and opened the refrigerator. He was happy to pull out the apple juice bottle. It was then that I realized that the poor kid was thirsty. (I normally give him a sippy cup after his nap, but had forgotten today.) I poured him a sippy cup of milk, he gave me the biggest grin and proceeded to drink almost the entire glass.
James is walking pretty well now. Although he tries to run like his sister and his little body can't balance and run yet... soon, but not now. He does fall quite a bit... thank heavens the diaper provides a little extra cushion!
