Little things

I decided that since we have been so busy these past few days, we needed a day at home to relax. So, James and I watched Sesame Street together this morning after he "helped" me wash dishes that had been piling up. He loves Sesame Street... he gets so excited that he does a dance when he hears the introduction song and starts naming all the characters. I think his favorite part this morning was seeing the count for the number of the day! Of course, during the parts which were a little too advanced for him, we read books and played. When I went upstairs to shower, I brought James' train into the bathroom. He loves to play with his train and I counted on it (along with all the other toys) to entertain him. As I put conditioner into my hair, I heard the water on in the garden tub, so I had to step out of the shower to turn the water off. When I looked, he had stepped into the shower and was just grinning! He was saying "Rain, rain, wadder, wadder." So, I had a happy, wet little boy. He is going to love swim lessons in three weeks! I love it when I can spend time with the kids and have fun!

I had planned to take the kids to the park on the way home because it was a warm and cloudy day. However, when I went to get Jemma from school, she ran from me and went running into the parking lot at school. So, she did not get the privilege of going to the park. We came home and did homework instead. One of her assignments was to decide what clothes this girl would wear for winter and color them. Jemma chose green boots, green gloves, a green hat with earmuffs and scarf attached (just like one of Jemma's hats), a long sleeved yellow shirt and purple pants. I think she did remarkably well to have almost no help from me... she did well to stay in the lines and she decided on colors and clothes...

Then, she went to her room for quiet time while James napped. After dinner, I took the kids to the gym. James was actually excited when we pulled into the parking lot and went giddily screaming into the playroom. What a relief!!!

It is the little things that make my day. Today, Sarah was at the gym and we were leaving about the same time. I stopped to talk to the Pilate's instructor, whose husband is in the same squadron as mine. When I entered the daycare area, Sara had gotten James and Jemma and was putting their shoes on. What a pleasant surprise... it is the little things that can just make your day! She certainly made mine a little brighter!! :)
