I took the kids to free play at MyGym at 11:30. (They needed to get energy out and complained that it was too hot to play outside.) On the way to MyGym, James decided to stick his finger down his throat. This caused him to puke. He started saying, "Mommy, clean it. CLEAN IT. It's on my fingers... and my pants. Clean it." I did the best I could. Unfortuntely it was over 90 degrees and the smell in the minivan was awful after sitting while we did freeplay. Yuck!
After freeplay, we went to a local restaurant for a quick lunch. While we were sitting there, Jemma says, "I wish I could take Irish Folk Dancing classes." I'm not sure where this comment came from... there had to be some gears turning in that head of hers...
While we were waiting for their grilled cheese sandwich, they started playing with the jelly packets that were on the table. Jemma wanted the orange marmalade and James wanted the grape jelly. So, I allowed them to put jelly on their sandwich. The waitress seemed to disapprove... I figured why not let them try it... it is just a little jelly! Jemma went to her MyGym class, then James finished his lunch and we ran errands.
It was almost three when we returned home. I had planned to let James skip his nap and take them both to the pool, but James grabbed his stuffed animals and headed to bed all by himself. So, Jemma and I went while he napped. It was a perfect day for swimming and Jemma did so, so, so good! She was putting her face in the water and kicking and using her arms without using a noodle! She swam the width of the pool several times. And she emphasized that, "it is not a race." She wanted me to swim BESIDE her and keep her company. I was impressed. It is quite an improvement from the beginning of the summer until now!

Big boy bed
James got a new big boy bed! I had not planned to purchase a new bed for James since his crib converts to a full size bed (if you have the conversion kit, which we never purchased...) and it is really nice. However, one of our neighbors was moving and I just could not resist this set! He loves it. We didn't put the desk on the end, so he has a little play cave and Jim bought a rope light and mounted it under the bed which is perfect for "camping" and playing. I hope this lasts for many years to come!

I made blueberry butter. I picked the blueberries from Pungo and cooked them in the crockpot, so it was pretty easy. I'm hoping to pick apples this fall and make applebutter, too. There is something really nice knowing exactly what your family is eating!
Here is Jemma in her bed with all of her animals. One of new favorite games is to pretend that she is the teacher and the animals are her students.
